Our Chapter

Founded in 1998 by Marine Corps veterans, the First Marine Division Association of the Desert pays homage to the indomitable spirit of Colonel Mitchell Paige. Named after this heroic figure, a Coachella Valley resident awarded the Medal of Honor for gallantry during the Battle of Guadalcanal in World War II, the association upholds his legacy. Colonel Paige’s march to heaven in 2003 marked a poignant moment, but his spirit lives on through our unwavering dedication. Today, we proudly continue his mission, providing support to the 7th Regiment Marines and upholding the time-honored traditions of the Marine Corps with steadfast commitment.



Our Mission

The First Marines Division Association of the Desert is a beacon of support and camaraderie for active duty Marines and their families stationed at the 7th Marine Regiment in 29 Palms, CA. With a rich history spanning generations of Marines from World War II to present-day service members, our group fosters a sense of belonging and unity. Regular meetings provide opportunities for members to bond and share experiences, with guest speakers including esteemed figures such as the 29 Palms Commanding General, Commanding and Executive Officers, as well as Sergeant Majors and First Sergeants. Together, we honor our past and support our present.

How We Help

Support

Each year, we joyfully provide 200 full Christmas dinners and gift cards to Marine families at 29 Palms Base Helping to make everyone’s holiday a little brighter. Additionally, we collaborate with Jensen Foods in Palm Springs and Palm Desert to gather donations in-person periodically, furthering our mission of support.

Mentorship

We support the Advanced Infantry Course at Camp Pendleton and present the honor student with the Mitchell Paige Award. We also support the Junior ROTC Program at Desert Hot Springs High School, recognizing their dedication and excellence. Our commitment extends to nurturing their growth and success as they embody the values of leadership and service.

Community

Our group stands as a pillar of support and camaraderie for active duty Marines and their families stationed at the 7th Marine Regiment in 29 Palms, CA. With a legacy reaching back through generations of Marines, we cultivate a strong sense of belonging and unity within our ranks.
